Maritime opens in Liverpool
Maritime Transport opens another new depot, at Liverpool, extending its UK depot network to eight. The facility will service container traffic to and from the North West, as well as deep-sea and feeder traffic through the Port of Liverpool.
The new depot is ideally positioned next to the Seaforth Container Terminal on East Hornby Dock at the Port of Liverpool. The 1˝-acre facility will provide parking for ten Maritime vehicles initially. The site is fully enclosed and will be monitored by CCTV. The new depot will provide employment for twelve people at the outset.
Richard Collins has been appointed as the Depot Manager for the Liverpool depot. Collins is a highly experienced transport manager and has worked at Maritime Transport for over two years, based in the Northwest. Collins will be supported by Brian McWhirter who joins the Company from Widnes-based, O’Connor Transport.
Commenting on the Company’s latest expansion, John Williams, Managing Director said, “We are delighted to announce the opening of our new Liverpool depot. The Port of Liverpool is a rapidly developing and strategically important gateway for container traffic. It is important that Maritime Transport is properly represented in Liverpool to enable us to serve our customers calling at the Port.”
