Acquisition extends Maritime's capability

Maritime Group Ltd. (Maritime) has agreed to acquire DHL Container Logistics, DHL’s container arm, for an undisclosed sum. The share purchase of DHL’s container business is effective from 1st. January.

The deal includes the entire container transport activities of DHL Container Logistics, including the container lifting, storage and repair operations at Felixstowe and Trafford Park, Manchester. The enlarged business will operate a fleet of 900 vehicles with transport depots at every major seaport and consumer conurbation in England and 16 acres of dedicated container storage.

“DHL Container Logistics is an excellent fit for our business, with complementary depots and customer base,” said John Williams, Managing Director. “Not only have we been able to strengthen our UK network, we will extend our service offering to customers, through container lifting, storage and repairs.”

“We are delighted to have reached agreement with Maritime to acquire the Company and that its future is secure under the wings of a strong market leader, committed to the container transport sector,” said Jeroen Eijsink, Managing Director, DHL Freight.

With so many consumer goods now manufactured overseas, the demand for container transport in the UK will continue to grow and Maritime is now ideally placed to benefit with first class services, resources and sector expertise.

Maritime, with the combined businesses of Maritime Transport and DHL Container Logistics, will become the largest operator in the UK container transport industry.
