Wave of new trucks in 2006
Already this year, Maritime Transport has ordered 132 new trucks. All of the vehicles will have gone on the road by the end of October.
Whilst some of the tractor units on order are replacement vehicles, the Company has increased the fleet substantially to support the growth of its existing customer base and new contract wins in 2006.
The vehicles have been purchased from a number of truck manufacturers and include DAF, MAN, Mercedes, Scania and Volvo, catering for the differing performance requirements at each depot.
All of the trucks are well-appointed, large horsepower, 6 x 2, sleeper cab, tractor units and were selected on the basis of whole life costs, fuel consumption, after sale support and driver appeal.
