Maritime Steams into Hams Hall
Container transport operator, Maritime Transport has chosen Hams Hall as its new hub in the Midlands. The facility is located at ABP Connect’s Hams Hall Railfreight Terminal in Coleshill. The Company’s operating centre was previously based at Perry Barr.
The new depot provides the Company’s customers with container transport services from all of the main ports to the Midlands, as well as local haulage to and from the railhead at Hams Hall.
According to Managing Director, John Williams, “Hams Hall Railfreight Terminal is one of the UK’s premier intermodal facilities with rail connections to and from the southern deep-sea ports. It also has excellent road links with easy access to the M1, M6, M42 and M69 motorways and is an ideal location to service the Midlands.”
The site, operated by ABP Connect, Associated British Ports’ value-added service division, is fully enclosed with palisade fencing and electronic, gated access. In addition, the facility has 24-hour security on site. It has parking spaces for up to 30 vehicles to accommodate the fleet.
“We are delighted that Maritime has chosen to relocate to Hams Hall Railfreight Terminal. The move signifies the strategic importance of Hams Hall as an intermodal hub for the region and we look forward to developing our close relationship with the UK’s leading container transport operator,” said Stephen Burgess, Managing Director, ABP Connect.
Based at Felixstowe, Maritime Transport operates a national network of ten depots based at prime locations at Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Southampton, Teesport, Thamesport, Tilbury (London) and now at Hams Hall.
