| Import | Goods purchased in one country and transported to the purchaser's own country. |
| Importer | The party responsible for the import of goods. For customs purposes it is the party who makes, or on whose behalf an agent makes, an import declaration. This party may be the party who has possession of the goods or to whom the goods are consigned. |
| Indivisable Load | A load that cannot be divided into two or more loads. |
| Inland Clearance Depot | Inland location where container cargo may be cleared by customs. |
| Inland Depot | A facility for storing empty containers inland. |
| Intermodal Transport | A (long-haul) container movement involving a rail and road leg. |
