CabotagePoint to point transport undertaken in the same country by a foreign vehicle. 
CargoGoods transported or to be transported, all goods carried on a ship covered by a B/L. Any goods, wares, merchandise, and articles of every kind whatsoever carried on a ship, other than mail, ship's stores, ship's spare parts, ship's equipment, stowage mat
Carrier Party undertaking the transport of goods from one point to another.
Carrier HaulageThe inland transport service which is performed by the sea-carrier under the terms and conditions of the tariff and of the relevant transport document.
Cash on DeliveryTerms of payment where the carrier collects a payment from the consignee on receipt of goods and remits the amount to the shipper. Abbreviated: COD.
Certificate of Professional CompetenceA qualification displaying basic professional competence in the operation of goods vehicles. 
CFSSee 'Container Freight Station'
ChassisA trailer for the carriage of containers.
ClaimA charge made against a carrier for loss, damage or delay or some other shortcoming in a delivery.
ClausedA delivery not performed in accordance with the shipping documents or delivery note e.g. goods short-shipped, damaged goods.

CODSee 'Cash on Delivery'
Conditions of CarriageThe basis upon which goods are carried. See 'RHA Conditions of Carriage'
CongestionAbnormal accumulation or obstruction affecting the normal level of traffic.
Congestion ChargeA means of charging vehicles for entering defined zones in some towns and cities. 
ConsigneeThe party who receives the goods. Also known as the receiver.
ConsignmentHand over or deliver; assign or commit to
ConsignorIs the person sending a shipment to be delivered whether by land, sea or air. Some carriers, such as national postal entities, use the term "sender" but in the event of a legal dispute the proper and technical term "consignor" will generally be used.
ConsolidationLCL cargoes placed in a container to make up a FCL.
ContainerSee 'Freight Container'
Container DemurrageCosts incurred when a loaded container is not removed from the terminal within the agreed free-time.
Container DepotStorage area for empty containers.
Container DetentionCosts incurred when a container is not returned to the carrier within the agreed free-time.
Container Freight StationA facility at which export cargo is received for loading or at which import cargo is unloaded.
Container NumberIdentification number of a container consisting of prefix and serial number and check digit. (e.g. KNLU 123456-7, see also container serial number and container prefix.)
Container PoolA stock of containers jointly used by several container carriers and/or leasing companies.
Container Seal NumberA number embossed on high-security seals for closing up containers which will serve identification purposes.
Container Size & TypeDescription of the size and type of a freight container or similar unit load device as specified in ISO6346.
Container StackTwo or more containers, one placed above the other forming a vertical column.
Container YardA facility at which FCL traffic and empty containers are received from or delivered to the Merchant by or on behalf of the Carrier. Note: Often this yard is used to receive goods on behalf of the merchant and pack these in containers for FCL traffic.

COTSee 'Customer Own Transport'

Customer Own TransportAn arrangement where the receiver arranges his own transport to and from the terminal or depot but agrees to restitute the container back to the terminal or depot.
Cut Off TimeThe last possible moment that a container can be delivered to a ship or receiving point.
CYSee 'Container Yard'
